Self-Reflection and the Struggle to Exist

French actress and film director Jeanne Moreau once said that cinema “is the mirror of the world”.  Indeed it is! Back in 1987, another French national, Vincent Carelli, brought his camera into the south Amazon tribe of the Nambiquaras, he offered these native Brazilians a chance to marvel at their own reflection and to fight for their existence. That’s how the project Video in the Villages was created....
